Anesthesia Mistakes

Anesthesia Mistakes

Most invasive medical procedures require some form of anesthesia. When mistakes are made during anesthesia, they can have devastating results: such as paralysis, blindness, brain damage and death. Anesthesia providers, doctors or CRNA's (certified registered nurse anesthetists), act independent of the surgeon. Here are a few examples of the types of anesthesia cases we have handled:

  • Improper intubation of patient by a CRNA resulting in torn esophagus
  • Failure to monitor by CRNA, resulting in anoxic brain damage
  • Failure to properly oxygenate patient during spinal anesthesia, resulting in cardiac arrest
  • Improper extubation of patient, resulting in cardiac arrest and anoxic brain damage
  • Improper intubation of patient, resulting in injury to spinal cord
